ARLINGTON, Texas, July 6, 2026 — The Arlington Museum of Art (AMA) recently honored businessman and philanthropist Sam Mahrouq for more than a decade of extraordinary leadership and generosity. With more than $1 million in pledged support, Mahrouq has helped shape the museum’s future and ensure that world-class arts and culture belong in Arlington.

Since joining the AMA Board of Directors in 2014, Mahrouq has been one of the museum’s strongest champions. At pivotal moments, his support helped secure the museum’s future,  preserving a place where generations of Arlington families can experience art, education, and culture close to home.

“As a local Arlington businessman, Sam’s contributions to the museum have raised the standard for how culture and beauty are preserved and shared in our city. His commitment reflects a deep love for our community and an even deeper belief in its future,” said Chris Hightower, President and CEO of the Arlington Museum of Art.

Mahrouq’s support helped make possible the museum’s move into a facility eight times larger than its original home, opening the door to internationally acclaimed exhibitions such as  Pompeii: The Immortal City from Italy and More Than A Match, the museum’s groundbreaking  World Cup exhibition from Qatar. Experiences once thought impossible for Arlington are now a reality because of his vision.

His impact extends far beyond philanthropy. As a technology leader, Mahrouq introduced  innovative projection systems that have transformed how the museum presents exhibitions.  Because of Mahrouq, visitors can step into a fully immersive art experience. He has also personally traveled overseas, meeting with Italy’s Minister of Culture and working directly with international partners to help bring world-class exhibitions to Arlington.

“Supporting the Arlington Museum of Art is a deeply personal endeavor for me and my family,  because it directly reflects our love for the vibrant cultural life of this city,” said Sam Mahrouq,  Chairman and CEO of MEI Group. “Art and education have the unique power to inspire,  connect, and elevate a community. Having lived in Arlington since I was 18 years old, I have watched this city grow into an incredible place to live, build businesses, and raise a family. This  commitment is our way of giving back to the community that has given us so much, ensuring  that our local cultural heartbeat remains strong and accessible for generations to come.”

A resident of Arlington for 40 years, Mahrouq has long believed that access to arts and culture should not require leaving your hometown. His giving reflects a commitment to education,  inclusivity, and creating opportunities for future generations.

In recognition of his extraordinary generosity, the museum’s front lobby now bears the name Sam & Rania Mahrouq Family Lobby.

As the Arlington Museum of Art looks ahead through its $20 million Outside the Lines capital campaign, Mahrouq’s legacy stands as a powerful reminder of what one person’s belief in a community can accomplish.

“Sam Mahrouq doesn’t just believe in Arlington’s future. He invests in it,” said Hightower.  “The Arlington Museum of Art is profoundly grateful for his partnership, and we’re  excited to continue building what’s possible together.”
